Not only is it a ‘place of scenic beauty’, as the Agency for Cultural Affairs describes it, the majestic sound that is produced when wind blows through it has been voted as one of the 100 must-preserve sounds of Japan.

Oak Alley Plantation, Vacherie, Louisiana

It’s one of the most photographed plantations in Louisiana, and it’s no wonder. It was originally named Bon Séjour (Have a good stay), but the 28 giant oaks leading up to the house turned it into “Oak Alley”. This fairy tale setting regularly draws turists, as well as celebrities and other VIPs from around the world.
