The ninth edition of Drawing Now Paris, the art fair dedicated to contemporary illustration, is back this week to prove that the art is far from dead. A unique opportunity to see the work of established or emerging artists and how the medium is growing and verging into other forms of visual art.

From Wednesday 25 to Sunday 29 of March, the leading contemporary art fair in Europe will be the place to be for collectors, curators, professionals and art lovers. As an appetiser, here are a few artists we are looking forward to seeing from our friends at FL Gallery (booth E18).

Abdelkader Benchamma

Benchamma’s central focus is drawing. He creates delicately executed drawings of states of matter, events and explosions animated by a wide range of dynamics and is strongly influenced by theories of astrophysics and cosmology, as well as existentialist theatre and literary investigations. He has had solo exhibitions across Europe as well as in Asia.

Franklin Evans

Born in 1967 in Reno, NV, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University in 1989 and his Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Iowa in 1993. In his own words, his work explores forms and ideas that consider the near-infinite cycle of recombination. Through painting, text, performance, and collaboration, he presents open system environments that are both symbiotic and cannibalistic. He has had numerous solo exhibitions all over the world and has received recognitions such as the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant in 2010 and a Rome Prize Fellowship Finalist for the American Academy in Rome in 2011.
