Brunch, as we understand it, is much more…It kicks off Saturday night in one of those night-outs where it seems the world is going to end tomorrow and follows up to a last gin tonic (with its citrics and liquorice) in the only open hotel lobby or in a “glamorous” carpeted disco with elegantly suited waiters. You try to digest the overdose of exotic spices surrendering to a refreshing sleep, but there comes a moment when the hours don’t make sense and hunger strikes.
Hunger and memories from last night overlap and the sunday survival mode is switched on saying: this can’t end here, do not fall into the lame “fast coffee, lunch at 17.30, sleep until 21, say goodbye to the world at 23.30”. It’s scientifically proven that this plan will affect monday’s productivity.
So, for the sake of the country, get out of bed and practice lunch with friends. Encourage cultural exchange and train your memory going through last night’s glorious events. It’s a contemporary version of living the art: a sunday performance, with the same people or similar, and with the same goal. So ‘brunch’, as you see, is not an academic brunch. It’s an extension of the night.
